Exact energy and momentum conserving algorithms for general models in nonlinear elasticity

چکیده
Implicit time integration schemes that inherit the conservation laws of total energy, linear and angular momentum are considered for initial boundary-value problems in ®nite-deformation elastodynamics. Conserving schemes are constructed for general hyperelastic material models, both compressible and incompressible, and are formulated in a way that is independent of spatial discretization. Three numerical examples for Ogden-type material models, implemented using a ®nite element discretization in space, are given to illustrate the performance of the proposed schemes. These examples show that, relative to the standard implicit mid-point rule, the conserving schemes exhibit superior numerical stability properties without a compromise in accuracy. Symplectic and energy-conserving algorithms for solving magnetic field trajectories.
The exponential splitting of the classical evolution operator yields symplectic integrators if the canonical Hamiltonian is separable. Similar splitting of the noncanonical evolution operator for a charged particle in a magnetic field produces exact energy-conserving algorithms. The latter algorithms evaluate the magnetic field directly with no need of a vector potential and are more stable wit...
متن کاملOn the Energy-momentum Conserving Integration of Large Deformation Contact Problems
Dynamic contact problems in elasticity are dealt with in the framework of nonlinear finite element methods. To this end, the mortar method is applied to take into account the constraint of impenetrability. A new energy-momentum conserving time-stepping scheme for the mortar contact formulation is presented. The proposed method relies on a reparametrization of the contact constraints in terms of...

The most exact and common Maxwel Nonlinear Slider (MNS) and modified Bouc-Wen hysteretic models are employed through a nonlinear comparatve numerical study. In many of semi-active control algorithms, a mathematical modelling method is required for determinig ...

The finite element formulation for nonlinear beams in terms of directors, providing a framework for the objective description of their dynamics, is considere...
متن کاملDetermination of the Spectral Gap for Kac’s Master Equation and Related Stochastic Evolutions
We present a method for bounding, and in some cases computing, the spectral gap for systems of many particles evolving under the influence a random collision mechanism. In particular, the method yields the exact spectral gap in a model due to Mark Kac of energy conserving collisions with one dimensional velocities. It is also sufficiently robust to provide qualitatively sharp bounds also in the...
